Scale and Counterforce

Low tide opens a space that is neither entirely land nor entirely sea. In the photograph of the fishermen, people become small figures within a broad horizontal order. In the image of the rocks, nature emerges as architecture: massive, folded, shaped by water and time. Together, the photographs do not speak of untouched nature, but of a shifting relationship. Human beings enter the landscape; the landscape continues to determine the scale.

Lost myself in the beginning of Corona times as an artist, cause I cannot be creativ in an environment of fear and psychological torture. Only black paintings dripped out of the brush. But when I startet to study Cy Twombly, I got back into balance. The series of "Being Cy" evolved.

After an exercise of lucid dream, Standing Eagle, a shaman from New Mexico, asked all participants to imagine a colour. Then he startet to ask everybody: "What colour have you seen?" And everybody saw green, blue or even rainbow colours, except of me. I only saw black. I thought, I made a mistake. When he came to ask me, I refused to answer him. But he insisted softly: "Please tell me, what colour have you seen." - "I saw only black", I answered shyly. Then he leant forward, his face very close to my face. His eyes locked into mine, when he said: "Black is a colour of a shaman."

Between Declaration and Appearance

In the first image, sacredness arises from what is natural and elemental: traditional boats rest on the beach, held together by sea and sky. In the second image, the sacred is explicitly named. The pink boat bears the words "Holy Place". Yet rubbish lies in front of it. The sign asserts what the visible reality simultaneously denies. The pairing does not establish a simple opposition between pure and impure. It shows how a concept loses its certainty as soon as it encounters material reality.

Ritual, Use and Remains

Offerings, flowers, a torch, packaging and plastic share the same sand. The objects originate in different actions, yet the sea arranges them on a common surface. This does not make ritual and waste equivalent. Their proximity reveals how human presence produces traces: intentionally, incidentally, reverently and carelessly. The compositions were not staged. They were found.

When Meaning Becomes Material Remnant

Scattered debris lies on one side, offerings on the other. Both remain behind, but not from the same attitude and not with the same meaning. The pairing does not blur this distinction. It asks what happens when an action ends and its objects become part of the same beach surface. When does a ritual remain legible? When does meaning become material? And who decides which remnant is protected, noticed or discarded?

Memory Without Sentimentality

In black and white, things lose the immediacy of their present colour. Palm tree, boat, tree stump, tracks and horizon become signs of stored time. The photographs do not claim a lost paradise. Their melancholy arises from the knowledge that every
landscape is both present and memory. The coast preserves what disappears and changes it in the same instant.

To relax my mind, I like to scribble around, without intention, just following the lines, the colors. I never know how it will end.

This talisman unites three strong totem animals. Be touched by the spirit of the eagle, the jaguar and the owl. They are the strongest protection for the path into the unconscious. For courageous guardians of the light.

Visible Warning, Invisible Boundary

The red flag warns of the sea. It marks an immediate danger and draws a clear boundary. In the second image, a dog sits in a pool of water beneath the same arning colour; people remain in the background. The order appears serious and strangely incidental at the same time. The group asks why some dangers receive a
visible sign while gradual destruction and pollution often remain unmarked.

A Fragile, Persistent Order

Two offerings frame an expansive view of nature. The landscape therefore becomes not a backdrop, but a counterpart. The ritual responds to a force greater than human command. At the same time, it remains vulnerable: flowers, leaves and small vessels will pass away. Its persistence lies precisely in this transience. The act is repeated even where destruction and pollution remain visible at the same time.

This series was developed in the fall of 2017. Every morning I took a small sketchbook and inadvertently scribbled small female nudes on paper in a minute - the 1-minute sketches. Gradually watercolors flowed in. I felt I drew the feminine pain body, but also its transformation back into the feminine power and true identity. Women are powerful!

The Gaze Finds Space

After the red warning, the space opens. Water, rocks and horizon are held together by warm light. Two small human figures in the background prevent the landscape from becoming an image of untouched paradise. They are almost only a measure of scale - and yet part of the visible reality. The photograph is a pause, not an escape.

Unintended Composition

Beanbags and low tables lie as cheap, synthetic forms beneath a precious sky. The clouds stage their own theatre; below them waits the infrastructure of tourist comfort. The contrast is comic, sad and fascinating at once. A composition emerges without having been staged. Perhaps this is the central movement of the series: what breaks the idyll is not beautified - but it is seen in such a way that it remains visible at all.

In pursuit of the ultimate question: "Who am I?", new works of art have unfolded. "I am many!" is the deep psychological realization after coming to terms with a trauma of identity. Being a dissociated personality is not easy to handle in everyday life, but it is profoundly creative for the creation of art. I really enjoyed my awakening.
